CELEBRATING BOBBY: There is much celebrating to be done in my honor. As some of you know, when I was on a recent trip to the ghetto basketball court, I had my camera with me. Jeff took two glorious pictures of me floating for a finger roll with the ghetto wall in the background. The beauty lies in the background and I'm really just a small prop in the picture (CLICK HERE TO SEE THE PIC). The two pictures turned out nice and as of now, I am deciding which one to use for a poster. Soon, the world will have a chance to immortalize me on their walls.
Also, since April 1st is the day to celebrate the fool, I am going one step
further and I am declaring the first week of April (from the 1st to the 7th)
"FunBo Appreciation Week". How I will celebrate isn't completely known yet.
I think the first way to celebrate should be this. Send in your emails of your
most fond Bobby memories or stories so I can post them on the newsletter during
FunBo Appreciation Week. I expect many emails or I will cry in the corner of
my room. Seriously. Giddy up!
BASKETBALL JONES: On wednesday, I went to the courts around my house to play my first actual game since I was in Victoria. I was very anxious to play again after that weak game I played, in my opinion. We had a four-on-four game wednesday and I had the game of my life. Suitably, it was the same day as my mom's birthday so I was feeling the giddy up. I hit my first 8 shots and that pretty much set the tone. We played first up to 100 (with one pointers) and we were there for 2 hours almost. I probably played the game of my life scoring 74 points and cementing my legendary playground status on my court. I think I might have missed no more than 12 shots that game. It's safe to say that my ego has recovered from my painful game before that.
Thursday, I went back to old townhouse to see my friends and we got together to play some basketball. We ended up playing three games. The first two games, we got on tape and they had some amazing moments. The third game, which was the most competitive in my eyes, wasn't on tape. We played up to 20 and my team lost 20-18. I was dissappointed cuz we mounted a sweet comeback to get back in the game. However, our usually effective full court press failed because our third defender (we played three on three) was totally out to lunch the whole game. It was pretty sad knowing that if we had a toaster oven instead of our third player, we probably would've won.
PERSIAN NEW YEAR'S: Around 5:30 am on tuesday, Persian New Year's came along (we have a different calendar). I wasn't awake for it cuz I spent the night before reading until 2 am. However, it was still cool. My house and table is set with all this cool decorative stuff and my parents got me this sweet shirt from Club Monaco. The best part is that my parents always make good food the night before so I ate like a king. Rightfully so.
SALMON AWARD: No one really stepped to the plate for the salmon award this week. Luckily, FunBo's House of Style has loyal servants like Warren to nominate the worthy. This week's winner is Nadia Gillies. Warren has now crowned you as "Princess Naddy of Invermere". Yeah!
BABE BATTLE 10: Last week, Josie Maran made quick work of Elsa Benitez and won 16 votes to 2. This week, I searched long and hard for a fairly even match. This week's battle is between Penelope Cruz and Catherine Zeta-Jones. CLICK HERE TO VOTE ON THIS WEEK'S BATTLE.
MOM'S BIRTHDAY: My mom's birthday was on wednesday. I bought her a card
and a cardigan from Banana Republic. I guess she liked it. Then my dad and I
took her to dinner at the Mongolie Grill, which is like a gift for anyone who
gets to go. Fun was had by all and as usual, the food at Mongolie Grill was
good (seeing how you get to choose what you eat). I think it's cool that my
mom's birthday is on the first day of spring, the time when things come back
to life.
ROAD RASH / KNOCKOUT KINGS 2001:Friday night, I joined Tyler and Graham for another one of our classic playstation outings. We got Road Rash Jailbreak from Blockbuster and the game was so much fun. It has everything you need: motorcycle racing, the ability to beat up the competition and two player compatability. Tyler proved to be the badass that would beat everyone up and knock them off their bikes. Graham was normally Tyler's speed bag. I just tried to win races and not fight too much.
After, we began to play Knockout Kings 2001. This game is perfect for us because
the main point to winning is fighting. Normally, Graham takes pride in losing
the game as long as he fights well (eg. NHL 2001). We only played a few games
of this since it was getting late but Tyler and I enjoyed beating Graham. Graham
believes I tried to hustle him by feeding him bad info when he was fighting
Tyler. I was just giving him privileged info. Regardless, I had fun and I ate
lots of lollipops.
SURVIVOR 2: As most of you know, this past week had no new Survivor
episode. It was simply a recap of the first 24 days on the island. Quite handy
for those who might have missed an episode (as I did). Anyways, I anxiously
await next week to see if Jerri gets the boot or if they continue to pick off
the Kuchan's one by one.
AFRO NEWS: Thursday, I rocked a gorgeous fro. It's beauty wasn't in it's size, but rather how my hair was pointing out left, right and center in some bizarre form of organized chaos. It was just a thing of beauty.
Not quite falling into afro news, but rather hair news, on friday I had amazing hair. While I was watching a video, I had my friend twist my hair into little braids and when all was said and done, I had about a dozen or so little braids standing up on end on my head. It was cool and I would've kept them on for work, but the hair ties were all different colors and it made me look like P-Funk. On a sidenote, when I took out the braids, my hair was fro'd out to the fullest.
MOVIE REVIEWS: This past week, I sat down to watch two movies on video
instead of going to the theatre. One that I have seen many times, the second
one was new to me.
Gladiator: Gladiator is an amazing movie and I think it's gonna be huge
on Oscar night, too. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you are a very deprived
person. It is the epic tale of "the general who became a slave. The slave who
became a gladiator. The gladiator who defied an emperor". It really is just
as good, if not better, than all the hype surrounding it. Everyone in the movie
turns in a great acting performance and although it is quite long (two-and-a-half
hours), the time flies by because you are wrapped up in the story. After watching
it once, I knew I had to buy it (which I did). My only regret was not watching
this in the theatres. I will blame that on someone else though. (Sidenote: Gladiator
just won 5 Oscars...yeah!!!)
The Prince of Egypt: Yes, I am aware that this movie is more than 2 years old and yes, I know it is not completely biblically accurate. But none of that matters to me, in fact, the biblical accuracy defeats the purpose of this movie. I am personally not a big fan of any animated films or movies regarding the bible, but this movie was amazing. It's probably the biggest landmark in animated films since Fantasia and the story is just amazing. Unless you are one to nitpick about the historical inaccuracies in a movie, I highly recommend this movie to all.
WARREN'S COOL THING OF THE WEEK: Warren's cool thing for this week is fishing. In honor of this, he decided to celebrate this unknown man below by sending me his picture to share with the world. Way to go, fisherman guy!
Below is the list of past issues along with some of the highlights:
